A "Hall of Fame" of the video game industry will appear in Russia
The Organization for the Development of the video game industry (VIDO) plans to create a "Hall of Fame" of the domestic video game industry. First as a website with information and annual voting, and later live – with objects in parks and on the streets of Russian cities.
"We are proud of the achievements of Russian developers and their contribution to the development of our and the global video game industry, – says the head of VIDO Vasily Ovchinnikov. The Hall of Fame is our tribute to all those who stood at the origins of the industry and, perhaps, are no longer with us, and those who, despite everything, continue to develop it. This is also an incentive for the young and talented to get into our "Alley of Stars" in the future".
The site will feature not only games that were born in Russia and have become popular all over the world, but also people without whom the greatest projects would not have taken place.
The year 2023 once again reminded that world hits can be born in Russia: Mundfish studio released the world-famous Atomic Heart, and the premiere of the movie "Tetris" took place on the streaming service Apple TV+, which told the world that the world's most popular puzzle was created by Soviet programmer Alexey Pajitnov.
The Hall of Fame will also include games and people who will be chosen as a result of a "popular vote" by visitors of a special website that is in the final stage of development.
The VIDO also reported that the organization's long-term plans include the creation of physical art objects, plaques and other memorabilia about people and games from the Hall of Fame. The authors of the initiative hope that they will find like-minded people among people from the domestic video game industry, entrepreneurs who love games, understanding people from the administrations of cities and regions.
VIDO invites information and commercial partners to cooperate in order to attract the attention of both investors and the public to the preservation of the history and development of the domestic video game industry.
