NEW MEMBERS OF THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY HALL OF FAME HAVE BECOME KNOWN
VIDO announced the results of the popular vote of the Video Game Industry Hall of Fame — the project immortalized three legendary personalities and one game.
The Video game development organization (VIDO) summed up the results of the popular vote of the Russian Video Game Industry Hall of Fame — this year users gave about 70 thousand votes. The new participants were announced on December 13 on the stage of the legendary pop culture festival "Comic Con Igromir".
The candidates were selected in three categories — "Legendary video games", "People who influenced the industry" and "Legends of esports". According to the voting results, the victory was won:
🔹 Legendary Video Games — multiplayer tactical shooter Escape from Tarkov;
🔹 "People who influenced the industry" — Anton and Kirill Yudintsev, founders of Gaijin Entertainment studio, which created War Thunder and Crossout;
🔹 "Legends of esports" is a member of Dota 2 Team Spirit, two—time winner of The International, Magomed Khalilov Collapse.
"We thank our dedicated players, community, and content creators – your support, faith, and energy have made this achievement a reality. We appreciate each of you. Thank you for being with us!", the Escape from Tarkov team comments.
In October, the founders of the Video Game Industry Development Organization decided to posthumously include in the Video Game Industry Hall of Fame the editor-in-chief of the video game magazines Video-Ass Dendy Valeria Polyakova. In the future, RVI intends to continue this practice and include games and personalities, bypassing the popular vote.
"We see that key historical figures have already received well-deserved recognition, and the range of potential nominees is gradually being exhausted. Next, annual candidates will be proposed by the expert community and the founders of the VIDO, just as it happened with Alexey Pajitnov, Viktor Savyuk and a number of other prominent industry representatives," said Vasily Ovchinnikov, head of the organization.
The project has been operating since 2023 — during the first two votes, users cast about 180,000 votes for the applicants. In December of the same year, the Video Game Industry Hall of Fame was awarded a special award, the Runet Awards 2023.
It has already managed to include such personalities as Alexey Pajitnov, Viktor Savyuk, Evgeny Isupov, Sergey Suponev and many others. Among the games are Tetris, Space Rangers, Atomic Heart, Truckers 2, Heroes of Might and Magic V and Allods Online. You can view the full list of winners from previous years on the official website of the project.
